Bennet and Lorraine talk about an article published at A Sweet Life entitled "The People who 'Get' Diabetes." The article addresses the understanding and empathy that many encounter when a family has a diabetes diagnosis. Bennet and Lorraine share their own experiences with emphasis on a school setting and how they've approached people with varying degrees of empathy.
They also share highlights from the recent Dexcom and Insulet investor calls with mention of an FDA Advisory Panel Meeting on July 2on to address a CGM dosing claim. More on that at diaTribe.
We'll publish an Encore episode of our Safe At School conversation with ADA's Crystal Crismond Woodward (formerly Chrystal Jackson) soon, but if you can't wait, you can listen in on Blog Talk Radio.

Christopher Snider joins Bennet and myself to discuss My Diabetes Secret, a forum he created on Tumbler, inspired by this post from Kerri Sparling on her blog, Six Until Me.
My Diabetes Secret, and the other communities like it, provide a safe space for people to share anonymously their thoughts and feelings about their disease without the fear of personal judgement. The hope is that openly sharing can serve as a step in healing.
Lorraine and Bennet are both parents of children with diabetes. Like many, diabetes was unknown to them prior to their children's diagnoses. In this episode, they share their diagnosis stories as both a reintroduction of themselves, and and a springboard to discussing the warning signs of diabetes.
Please share this episode as a form of awareness for those who, like so many, don't know what they are and don't know to look for diabetes. Our hope is that sharing this episode will identify the presence of diabetes for early intervention and avoidance of serious complications.
